10 Things You Didn't Know About Lois:
- My most fun job was as Forest Archeology Summer Intern with Boise National Forest. The Forest Service requires an archeological survey before logging to find any significant sites related to Paleoindian artifacts and gold mining activity (yes, Idaho had a gold rush!) I spent the summer hiking with a topo map and compass, and a vague description from loggers of possible sites.
- My favorite weekend activities involve hiking Colorado mountain trails with friends, including longer weekends on sections of the Colorado Trail.
- Creating 2D hand-crafted designer cards is a hobby I got hooked on while attending a paper crafting conference with my daughter-in-law in California.
- I currently own 23 pairs of Van’s shoes which I started collecting when my young sons wanted “cool” skate shoes. My favorites shoes are from the Snoopy collection.
- I’m dog mom to three pups who are all rescue adoptions, Maltipoo Zoey, blue heeler mutt, Alva, and little terrier, Molly, who is my faithful hiking companion.
- I have three sons who are now all grown with their own families. We were recently blessed with a grandbaby girl. After raising 3 rambunctious boys, little Sophie is my first girl (besides the dogs!).
- Attended college out of high school, but soon left to start a graphic design business, get married, and raise a family. After the boys were grown, seemed appropriate for me to finish my degree … worked full time, and earned both an associate in business, and Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
- Paddleboarding is a new passion. Many summer evenings and weekends are spent cruising on the lakes of Colorado.
- Currently training to get back into running. Ran 5K and 10K races until son number one was born. Looking forward to joining a few races in the Denver area.
- My most memorable experience was a month-long trip to Egypt to explore the pyramids and monuments near Cairo, Luxor, and the Valley of the Kings. She got to see the tomb of Tutankhamun, climb into the depths of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, and walk between the paws of the Great Sphinx. After Egypt, the group flew to Kenya for a cultural tour, including a safari on the Masai Mara near Nairobi, coming close to lions, hippos, elephants, and giraffes in their natural habitat!
Lois brings a background of working as a small business owner, and experience in higher education as an office administrator at the community college level. Lois returned to complete her degree after her youngest son left for college and she and her husband Charlie found themselves as empty-nesters. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University.
Lois has spent time as a forest archeologist in the Boise National Forest, visited the Great Pyramids and Valley of the Kings in Egypt, and explored the vibrant markets in Marrakech, Morocco. She settled in Colorado, spending time traipsing up some of Colorado’s 14er mountains with her husband and now grown three boys. She enjoys working in the garden, creating paper craft cards, and taking long walks with their three dogs that occupy the house now the boys are out on their own.
